| The Society was formed
in 1956. Currently it has over 150 members who are private medical
practitioners with higher medical qualifications. The following non-surgical
specialties are represented: Internal Medicine, Paediatrics, Psychiatry,
Radiology, and Family Medicine. About 250 doctors join as associate members.
The objectives of the Society are:

To promote
fellowship among physicians in private practice who are specialists
in Internal Medicine or any branch of Internal Medicine. |
| (ii) |
To encourage
a high standard of medicine and medical ethics among members. |
| (iii) |
To promote
and exchange scientific knowledge and practical experience among
members. |
The Society holds over 20 functions (total exceeds 50 hours) annually usually in the form
of lectures or other forms of scientific meetings.
